Town halls are a fantastic way for elected officials to meet with their constituents and answer their questions and hear their concerns.
And last night, House Rep. Paul Tonko (D-Amsterdam, NY-20) did just that.
And I was there.
For two hours, Rep. Tonko explained as much of the craziness in Washington as he could – everything from Donald Trump acting like a monarch, to Elon Musk acting like we elected him President, to the struggles Democrats currently have when MAGA Republicans hold majorities in the House and the Senate.
There was also a question and answer session, where residents and attendees could ask the Assemblyman about issues that concerned them – which included Medicaid and prescription drug costs, inflation reduction, the wars overseas, and the rights of LGBTQIA+ to exist and thrive.
I even went to the microphone and asked Rep. Tonko about one of my major concerns with this administration – the fact that Trump is letting flunkies like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. destroy the Office of Health and Human Services, especially since during Trump’s first administration over a million Americans perished from his dreadful response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It would be hard to recap every single moment of the event; however, this link will take you to a Facebook site that has the entire Town Hall on video, and I encourage you to watch it.
Realistically … at this point in time … we have to do everything in our power, whether it’s by grass roots action or by linking arms with those in need … to keep Donald Trump from destroying our country any more than he already has.
Wonderful post 🎸🎸

A 3rd concert at the Kennedy center for the arts is cancelled since T-rump purged most of the board members and appointed himself chairman. The Gay Men’s chorus and I don’t blame them.
